Shelly Purdy

Shelly Purdy

Shelly Purdy's jewellery is emotional and passionate, functional, symbolic and fun. In her downtown studio/showroom, Shelly and her creative team produce masterful jewellery in platinum, gold and sterling with exquisite gem stones and diamonds.

Shelly apprenticed with Toronto studio '18 Karat', won her first 'best in show' award in 1987 and ventured on her own shortly thereafter. Her initial break came when jewellery giant Birks picked up her first line: an animal collection in three-dimensional sterling. She then went on to create her popular Celtic Runes, Opulence and Essentials collections.

Coming from a designing family, including famed costume designer Bob Mackie and celebrity jeweller Harry Claxton, Shelly was fascinated by jewellery at a very early age. Now, with children of her own, she is even more aware of how jewellery connects family across generations.

Shelly is the recipient of the internationally coveted De Beers Diamonds Today Award. She is a member of the Canadian Jewellers Association, the Ontario Craft Council and the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.
